Charlie Cridlan

Charlie has an established career as a set and costume designer and works extensively in the fields of theatre, opera, exhibition and event design. Collaborating with many directors and companies she thrives on variety, always inspired by the possibilities of each new project.


In 2012 Charlie designed the UK Premiere of Wagner Dream performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Wedmore Opera will premiere Eleanor Vale by John Barber. Her designs for the company include; Jago, The Pearl Fishers in a 600-seat tent, and Tosca in a medieval church. Charlie designed the UK National Tour of Mr Stink by David Walliam’s and, as well as many traditional theatre buildings, has designed in spaces as varied as : Wilton’s Music Hall, The Roundhouse, London and Open Air : 'Scoop' by More London for companies that include: English Touring Theatre, Bristol Old Vic, The Barbican, HTV Bristol, Channel 4, Endemol and Living TV.


Charlie designs exhibitions and events, clients include: Wavelength Ltd, ?What If!, Diageo & Shepherds Bush Empire.  Her design for exhibition: Ignorance and Want the Social Conscience of Charles Dickens is currently at The Charles Dickens Museum, London.


Once upon a time at the Adelphi and Liar’s Market were both nominated for Best Design, OFFIEs 2010. Her design for Wedmore Opera’s La Boheme is currently being exhibited at the V&A as part of: Transformation and Revelation UK Design for Performance 2007-2011: May-Sept 2012.
